Innovative Product Grant (IPG) Private Application Overview

The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity's Homeland Security Market Development Bureau is pleased to announce the availability of the Innovative Product Grant (IPG) funds for State Fiscal Year 2006.

Applications are accepted throughout the year, but are considered on a first-come, first serve basis (state program cycle runs July 1 - June 30.) Awards made in response to this application will be contingent upon the availability of State General Revenue Funds appropriated and released for the purposes authorized by this program. The Director of DCEO shall determine the level of the grant award.

Objective
The objective of the grant program is to generate employment growth in Illinois by accelerating production, improvement and commercialization of products or services with an application in homeland security that are either ready-for-market or in the later stages of development. Applicants should include any party, partnership or joint venture that has a product or service with an application in homeland security and a dual use in another commercial sector that they would like to develop, produce, commercialize or deliver from a location in Illinois.

Target Applicants
IPG applicants should include any party, partnership or joint venture that has a product or service that they would like to develop, produce, commercialize or deliver from within Illinois that has particular application in homeland security and a dual use in another commercial sector.

Proof of Concept
IPG funds are not intended for long-term research projects or to prove the validity of a technology or service. They are intended to accelerate product development or advance a product to commercial production. Eligible firms/ partnerships should be in the later stages of development. This later stage is defined as any stage from prototype development/ testing up to established and steady market sales.

Questions in regard to eligibility or definitions should be submitted in writing to:
